All who sense the call to participate in ministry with asylum seekers and migrants are invited to two upcoming events at or near the U.S./Mexico border:
1) Welcome Strangers Worship & Blessing – On Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 10:15AM at Christ Ministry Center (San Diego), there will be an ecumenical Sunday morning worship service followed by visiting asylum seekers living on the campus of Christ Ministry Center’s Safe Harbors Network Shelter. There will also be a time of laying on hands and foot washing of refugees for those who want to participate. This is a joint effort of the Safe Harbors Network, General Board of Church and Society, and the American Friends Service Committee. Click here for more information.
2) La Posada Sin Fronteras /// Posada Without Borders – The 24th Annual La Posada Without Borders will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2-4 PM, at Border Field State Park. La Posada is a re-enactment of the Bible story of Mary and Joseph who, while sojourners in Bethlehem, were forced to seek shelter on the night of Jesus’ birth. It is a venerated Christmas tradition across the Americas. In our time, with such a hostile climate towards migrants, we believe it’s possible to promote a culture of reconciliation and solidarity. At the 24th annual La Posada Without Borders, we join with our friends from Tijuana as brothers and sisters in one human family. Click here for more information.
