On September 6, 2016, during its annual convocation ceremonies, Claremont School of Theology will award a Doctor of Divinity degree honoris causa to Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño, Resident Bishop of the Phoenix Episcopal Area/Desert Southwest Conference from 2004 to 2012 and the Los Angeles Episcopal Area/California-Pacific Conference from 2012 to 2016.
In her episcopal role, Bishop Carcaño has served on the Board of Trustees of the School for the last twelve years and as Chair of CST’s corporation for the last four years. “CST owes a debt of gratitude to Bishop Carcaño for recognizing the gifts we bring to the Desert Southwest and California-Pacific Conferences and the world as the only Methodist-founded seminary west of the Rockies,” said President Jeffrey Kuan. “We are proud to call her one of our own by awarding her a Doctor of Divinity degree honoris causa at Claremont School of Theology.”
Claremont School of Theology’s Convocation Service begins at 4 p.m. in Mudd Theater and includes special awards as well as a reception. The public is welcome.
