It is with deep sadness that I inform you that early this morning Kathy Thomas Sano died. Kathy was the spouse of Bishop Roy Sano. Together they served the California-Pacific Conference faithfully over the 1992-2000 period.
Kathy was a significant leader in The United Methodist Church serving on the staff of the General Board of Global Ministries and the Commission on Religion and Race. She was a tireless advocate for the rights of racial ethnic communities and for justice for the oppressed.
Kathy was a joyful disciple of Jesus Christ and we will miss her. Let us continue to pray for God’s comfort and sustaining grace for Bishop Sano, the Thomas and Sano families and all who mourn the death of our beloved sister, Kathy.
The Lord our Good Shepherd is our strength and the giver of life everlasting.
