Bishop Hagiya’s Announcement on Apportionment Giving 2017

It is always a joy to share good news with you and that is what we have found as we have wrapped up our 2017 apportionment giving.

Both Archana Carey, our Conference Treasurer, and I are so grateful for the generosity of our churches who were able to give almost $10.6 million (81.82%) of our $12.9 million Conference Apportionment budget.

While this was a decrease in giving by 1.98% compared to $10.7 million given in 2016, we should celebrate the fact that 201 of our local churches gave 100% or more towards their connectional giving. In fact, 17 of these churches gave over 100%!  The final numbers per local church are available here.

Our Conference is moving forward with the Four Priorities that were introduced at Annual Conference 2017. We are Transforming Lives, the World, Vital Congregations, and Christian Leaders through our apportionment giving. I am sure that throughout this past year you have heard of the many accomplishments of our Offices of Connectional Ministries, Treasurer’s Office, Human Resources, Communications, as well as our District Offices.  These efforts, of course, are all so that lives would be transformed through our local churches.

We are a Conference that lives up to our values and Archana and I are confident in our future as God is surely leading the way.  With such confidence, we can all prepare for Annual Conference 2018, sharing more good news of our ministry as The United Methodist Church in this part of the world.

Be the Hope,

Bishop Grant J. Hagiya
Los Angeles Area Resident Bishop
