For people in the Philippines, the struggle against violence is a stark reality. Faced with a worsening economic crisis, increased militarization, and the threat of nationwide martial law in the Philippines, Filipinos are becoming more vulnerable to brutal attacks that threaten human rights. September 21st marks the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines under Ferdinand Marcos. In the face of impending nationwide martial law and rising fascism and tyranny, we pray for healing and redemption to turn our grief and our fear into revolutionary courage, to remake the world into the kingdom that Jesus taught and lived.
As people of faith, what can we do to restore life for those who are marginalized and oppressed, end martial law, and defend human rights?
Through our prayer service, join the Cal-Pac Philippines Taskforce and NEFFCON SoCal in learning more about what actions we can take to oppose martial law and support efforts for genuine peace. Come honor and remember the victims of martial law and fascism in the Philippines. Join us in declaring, “Never Again to Martial Law!”
