Schedule: The event will take place from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday October 25, 2019 and 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday October 26, 2019. The schedule includes times for worship, teaching, reflection in small groups, Q&A, and meals.

About Certified Lay Ministry Training: The Certified Lay Ministry (CLM) Program provides information, resources, and training for laity who feel called to leadership in ministry both within and through the local church. Each year, the program provides an Orientation (late Summer) and two focused training sessions (Fall and Spring) called Cycles. The program takes two years to complete with four Cycles in total (A-D).

About Cycle A – Introduction to Preaching: This event will introduce attendees to the sermonic genre and basics of preaching– walking through the critical stages of preparation, development, and delivery, and identifying the goals and purpose of a sermon in the context of Christian worship. Taught by Rev. Dr. Lincoln Galloway, the K. Morgan Edwards Associate Professor of Homiletics at Claremont School of Theology, attendees will come away with theological, scriptural, traditional, and practical foundations to ground their own sharing of witness and testimony in church and community contexts.
