- Guam & Saipan: Wednesdays, January 13 – February 24, 2021 (2:30 PM – 4 PM ChST)

Cost: Free but you must acquire your own book (see below)
This class is open to participants from all districts (limited to the first 15 participants) and sponsored by Hawaii District Lay Servant Ministries.
About the Class:
- Attendance is required at all sessions for credit. All those seeking certification or recertification as a Certified Lay Servant are invited to attend.
- Technical requirements: To participate in Zoom meetings, participants must have a reliable Internet connection, and a laptop, tablet, or smartphone device that can download and install the Zoom app. A web or phone camera and a microphone are highly recommended, although some users may call in via phone if a mic is not available.
- Order this book: The Workbook on Spiritual Disciplines by Maxie Dunham from Amazon.
- Advanced Class – Spiritual Discipline: In this course, we will explore six different ways to increase your spiritual discipline: Study of the Scriptures, Prayer, Confession, Service, Solitude and Gratitude. The first class will be an introduction, followed by 6 weeks of study and meetings.
About the Lay Servant Ministries:
After you take a Basic Lay Servant Class, you have 3 years to take an advanced class to qualify you as a Certified Lay Servant. If you want to continue on to being a Certified Lay SPEAKER, you will need to take the following advanced classes: Preaching, Leading or Planning Worship, Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts, Leading Prayer, United Methodist Heritage or History and United Methodist Polity.
