At the 2014 Annual Conference Spanish American Institute booth $1500 was raised through donations. The SAI Board of Directors approved that these funds would be used as scholarship money to be given directly to qualified United Methodist Latino Youth. In, February, 2015, the SAI Board of Directors voted to match the $1,500, making it possible to award 3 x $1,000 scholarships.

The qualifications for the scholarships would be similar to the United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM). A candidate must be an active United Methodist member for at least a year and be recommended by the Pastor and/or Church Leader through a letter of recommendation.

The scholarship application packet for the SAI Scholarship is now available. The deadline to submit the application and all required documents is April 17, 2015. The packet consists of the complete list of qualifications, scholarship timeline, documents requested, detail instructions in filling out the actual application and where to submit the completed application and required documents.
