Call to Prayer: Beni, East Congo

The California-Pacific Conference is called to prayer for the East Congo Episcopal Area from where Bishop Gabriel Unda has reported that, on the night of Saturday, August 13, 2016, a group of terrorists allied with Daesch attacked the city of Beni with machetes and knives, burnt houses, and raped women and young girls.

At least 40 people are believed to have been killed including two daughters of a United Methodist District Superintendent.  The District Superintendent himself was injured in the attack and was taken to a hospital.

Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño has conveyed her prayers directly to Bishop Unda who has asked for prayers for all affected in his area including those who flee from their homes for safety, the church, the country, and its leaders.
