The California-Pacific Conference is called to prayer for Wrightwood and its surrounding communities affected by the Blue Cut Fire where evacuations lasted for several days.
Pastor Dave Conrad of Community United Methodist Church of Wrightwood has reported that firefighters were able to stop the fire at the eastern edge of the city and that the church, as well as our United Methodist Camp Wrightwood, are now beginning to return to normal. Jennifer Berry, Director of Camp Wrightwood, recently reported that thankfully the Camp was not directly affected.
However, one family of Community UMC did lose their house and their belongings to the fire. What they were able to save were their horses and the clothes that they were wearing as they evacuated. To assist this family, gift cards for stores where clothes and utensils could be purchased, or a donation to the “Wrightwood UMC Crisis Fund” with “Rita and Simon” on the Memo line of the check, are being received by the church.

Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño and East District Superintendent Jan Wiley have been in close contact with Community UMC which has served faithfully as an encouraging presence amidst the chaos.
Lord, in your mercy…
