Applying for 2021-2022 Associate or Provisional Membership (BOM)

The application packets for 2021-2022 Associate and Provisional memberships are now available online.

Starting from July 1 to October 6, 2021, the certified candidates wanting to apply for Associate or Provisional Membership may go to the Board of Ordained Ministry’s website and select “Associate Membership” or “Provisional Membership” under the “00. To Apply” section. The first deadline is the first Wednesday in October (October 6, 2021) and the second deadline is the first Wednesday in December (December 1, 2021).

On the webpages, you will find all the forms to apply for the different memberships. There are online forms as well as .pdf forms. Please read all instructions carefully. You may fill out the forms and start working on the requirements as of July 1, but you may not submit them until you have received the recommendation from your District Committee on Ordained Ministry (which usually is in September). Make sure you let your DCOM know that you want to apply to the Board of Ordained Ministry this year so they can send you the information they need from you.

When working on your exam papers, please make sure to use THIS YEAR’S questions as instructions and questions may change slightly from year to year. You must write all papers this year, even if you previously passed some last year. The exam questions have been significantly changed.

Applicants for Associate and Provisional Membership must have attended the ‘Orientation to Ministry’ prior to submitting the application. If you have not attended the ‘Orientation to Ministry’ by October 6th of the year prior to the commissioning year, the application cannot be processed. The Candidacy Summit fulfills the ‘Orientation to Ministry’ requirement. The last event to fulfill this requirement before applying this year to the Board of Ordained Ministry will be at the Orientation To Ministry on Zoom on August 21, 2021. You can register here.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Ordained Ministry has waived the CPE requirement for the 2021 application. If the candidate does not pass the Board interviews in 2022, they will have this requirement for applying again in the future.

Dates to Apply: Immediately Following the District Committee on Ordained Ministry Recommendation (usually in September) until October 6, 2021 by 11:59:59 PM (PDT)
