Update:  This call has been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The California-Pacific Conference Disaster Response Task Force has received communication from Glorymar Baez, the Disaster Response Coordinator for Methodist Church of Puerto Rico (MCPR) seeking UMVIM teams to help with the rebuilding needs in Puerto Rico in 2021. This past week, Bishop Hagiya has given his approval for Cal-Pac to send teams to Puerto Rico next year.

A Zoom conference call with the MCPR/Rebuilding Communities with Hope (REHACE) Team has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, 2020, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm EST (4 pm – 5:30 pm PST, 2 pm – 3:30 pm HST; December 9, 10 am – 11:30 am ChST) for all team leaders/members who are planning to lead, or considering leading, a team in 2021. Glorymar Baez, Carmen Ana Perez and their team will provide updates on the current COVID situation in Puerto Rico and provide Q1 2021 projections on allowing teams to serve.

Please fill out this registration form by Thursday, December 3, 2020, so that the leaders have an idea of the number of people that will be on the call as well as an estimate of team activity to be expected in the coming year. Those registered will automatically receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link information for the video conference.

Please contact Glorymar at puertoricovols@umcor.org or glorymar79@hotmail.com for any questions interested team leaders or potential team members might have.

Once teams/dates are confirmed, it is important that they are registered with our Cal-Pac Disaster Response Task Force as well. Details of all UMCOR ERT and UMVIM team activity is a vital portion of the annual Global Ministries Report. The link to the UMVIM/UMCOR Trip Registration Form can be found under Current Resources here.

Puerto Rico has suffered devastating destruction to its infrastructure as well as thousands of homes and business structures from hurricanes.
