
1) Make the Commitment – Yes, the power bill is part of the consideration. But, the church must make the commitment to lead the community by acting according to its stated values. The project might take up to a year or longer for completion and the financial commitment might require a strong effort by the congregation.
2) Do the Research – Check with multiple vendors. Be prepared to make decisions on a number of possibilities including whether to purchase or lease, to place on the rooftop or to build another structure, or to go with a vendor used to building for residential or commercial buildings. Look for special offers, rebates, and incentives.
3) Request Approval from the District – Requests for major changes to church buildings must be made to the District Superintendent and the District Building and Location Committee. It is best to work with them sooner than later.
