Advanced Class: Leading Worship 2022 (Lay Servant Ministries)

• California & Hawaii: Tuesdays, April 19 – May 16, 2022 (8 PM – 10 PM PDT | 5 PM – 7 PM HST)
• Guam & Saipan: Wednesdays, April 20 – May 17, 2022 (1 PM – 3 PM ChST)

This series is sponsored by Hawai’i District Lay Servant Ministries and open to participants from all Cal-Pac districts. The class size will max at 20 participants and registration will close if that number is reached.

This advanced course focuses on the ministry of the lay servant who either regularly or occasionally leads a group or congregation in worship. The instructor is Lynn Bowersox, a Certified Lay Servant from Ala Lani UMC in Hawaii.

• Attendance is required at all sessions for credit. All those seeking certification as a Certified Lay Servant are invited to attend. The Basic Class and one Advanced Class is required to successfully apply for Certified Lay Servant status within 3 years. For more information about Lay Servant Ministries, click here.
• Provide your own books: All participants will need a copy of A United Methodist Hymnal (Cokesbury, some versions may have different color cover) and United Methodist Book of Worship (Cokesbury). These books may also be borrowed from your local church. Participants will also need a copy of Worshiping with United Methodists by Hoyt Hickman (Amazon, Cokesbury).

• Technical requirements: To participate in Zoom  meetings, participants must have a reliable Internet connection, and a  laptop, tablet, or smartphone device that can download and install the  Zoom app. A web or phone camera and a microphone are highly recommended,  although some users may call in via phone if a mic is not available.

Zoom information will be sent to you by the instructor closer to the first class meeting.
