Prayerful greetings from here in Hong Kong!
We hope you had a restful holiday season and are in good health as 2022 begins.
As 2022 begins, I am incredibly thankful for the support of my community. Through prayers and donations, your support is truly treasured. Being part of our United Methodist, hands and feet in mission during these historic times is truly a blessing. Living our social principles into action each day as we enter, into another year of the global pandemic. I wanted to share more about how we are continuing to adapt in ministry to meet the current needs of the migrant domestic workers here in HK and remain #stillinmission.
Since we still cannot visit each other in person, together with my placement site the Mission for Migrant Workers I would like to invite you to join us virtually for “Migrant Women of HK: providing essential care and services to HK families. A Virtual Visit to learn more about our work with Migrant Domestic Workers.” Whether you are long time supporter, or new friend, United Methodist or not, this three-day event is for you:
When: 17-19 February (5pm-7pm PST| 3pm-5pm Hawaii Time)
Day 1: Updates about the situation of migrant domestic workers here in Hong Kong under the COVID-19 global pandemic. As well as updates on how the Mission for Migrant Workers has continued in our commitment to serve migrant domestic workers here in Hong Kong for 40+ years.
Day 2: Sharing from our partner shelter Bethune House Migrant Women Refugee, and testimonies from some of their residents in how they have been impacted by the global pandemic while still standing up to protect their rights.
Day 3: Join us as we visit areas where migrant domestic workers gather on their only day off. See and hear how they continue to provide welfare services to their fellow migrant workers. Also, educating on issues impacting them here in Hong Kong and their families back in their home country.
As always, if you have any questions at all or if you want promotional materials for your church, community or small group, please let me know!
We cannot wait to see you in a few weeks.
We hope you can join us!
In Solidarity,
Deaconess Joy Prim
