Position Title: Piano Accompanist
Status: Part-Time
Compensation: Pay DOE (Depending on Experience)
Reports to: Pastor
Overview:
We are seeking a gifted and reliable piano accompanist to support the musical life of our worshiping community. The ideal candidate will bring musical skill, a collaborative spirit, and a heart for worship. This is a part-time role with regular Sunday worship responsibilities and occasional special services.
Qualifications:
1. Written application, resumé, video piano sample, and interview.
2. Demonstrated professional competence on piano.
3. Experience accompanying choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists.
4. Familiarity and comfort with liturgical and worship music, both traditional and modern.
5. Ability to take direction from the Pastor and collaborate with music and worship leaders.
6. A theological orientation compatible with the United Methodist Church.
7. Candidates may be asked to play for one worship service as part of the interview process. This service will be paid at the regular rate.
Primary Duties:
1. Provide musical accompaniment for Sunday worship services.
2. Attend and rehearse with song leaders or choir prior to Sunday worship, as needed.
3. Coordinate with the Pastor on music selections, including preludes, offertories, and postludes that reflect the theme of the service.
4. Receive supervision and guidance from the Pastor.
5. Attend planning meetings with the Pastor, paid staff, and Worship team as needed.
6. Provide accompaniment for special services or events, including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Good Friday.
7. Play for weddings, funerals, and other requested events as available. These services include additional pay.
8. Support the care and proper use of the church piano and/or organ.
9. Arrange for a qualified substitute accompanist when absent, in consultation with the Pastor.
