Support Sherman Indian High School: Annual Supply Drive Now Through August

website maker

The California-Pacific Conference invites churches, ministries, and individuals to participate in the annual supply drive for students at Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, CA now through the end of August. This annual outreach effort is an opportunity to remind the students at Sherman that they are seen, supported, and cherished by the wider community.

Sherman Indian High School is one of only four remaining off-reservation boarding schools still operated by the Bureau of Indian Education. While its history is complex, the present-day reality is that many students at Sherman face significant financial and personal challenges. Government funding often falls short, leaving gaps in essential supplies and personal care items that families are expected to provide.

Over the past three years, Cal-Pac churches, organizations, and individuals have provided generous support. Last year, over dozen of our congregations sent supplies. Prior to this, members and friends of Native American UMC offered support through supplies, financial support for programs and events, along with gathering with students at Sherman assemblies and the annual pow wow. These efforts continue to make a real difference in students’ lives.

This year, as Indian Education faces increased threats under shifting DEI policies, our collective action is more important than ever.
