On May 28, 2025, leaders from the California-Pacific Annual Conference gathered at the future site of the College Community Courts, a planned 57 unit affordable housing project in Ventura. The housing project will be built on the property of the College Ministry Center. Rev. Melissa MacKinnon (North District Change Manager) was among the speakers, and Rev. Dr. David Jamir (Ventura/North Oxnard Cooperative Parish), Rev. Dr. Mary Dennis (retired), Rev. Andy Mattick (Valencia UMC), Rev. Dr. Lew Fry (retired), and Jan Newton (North District Administrative Assistant) also attended.
The project started in 2021, and is being developed by People’s Self-Help Housing. 29 of the units will be set aside for farmworkers in the area, and community amenities will include a community center, laundry room, outdoor recreational spaces, on-site property management, and supportive services.
