Basic ERT Training – Big Island, HI – Sept 2023 (Disaster Response)

Attendance is required at the entire session to complete certification. 

An Early Response Team (ERT) fills a specific need in the early days after a disaster to establish the caring presence of the church and to provide hope for the survivors.

• This team is not a first response group of emergency workers or a recovery rebuild or repair team. While there are specific tasks assigned to early response teams, no task is more important than the people they serve.

Certification requires successful completion of the Basic ERT 8-hour course AND completion of the background check process. (We work with vulnerable individuals.) Certification is valid for three years.

The course is being organized by the Conference’s Disaster Response Task Force (DRTF), which operates through the Justice & Compassion EMT. ERT Classes are taught by UMCOR certified instructors. Look for more opportunities and classes on our web page at www.calpacumc.org/disasterresponse.
