This workshop is for churches seeking creative ways to sustain ministries of community service and social action in ways that revitalize both the church and the community.

The event will feature a panel of experts in faith based social enterprise and community development and will provide the opportunity to participate in a cohort of churches seeking to grow sustainable ministries of Justice and Compassion.

Speakers: 

  • Rev. Mike Baughman, Community Curator and founding pastor for Union Coffee & Editor for Flipping Church (2016)
  • Reyna Ortega, Interim Executive Director of The Abundant Table
  • Pastor John Oh, Project Manager for Faith in Housing of L.A. VOICE/Faith in Action

Cohort groups:

  1. Food Justice – led by Reyna Ortega & Josh Lopez Reyes
  2. Social Enterprise as Ministry – led by Rev. Mike Baughman & Tom Grode
  3. Partnerships in Affordable Housing & Community Development – led by Pastor John Oh & Rev. David Farley
