Love In Motion is a weekend retreat where we will encounter God’s love through action. We will get our hands dirty in the soil of God’s creation. We will educate ourselves to become more eco-literate and justice-oriented. We will explore our ancient stories of creation and origins.
This retreat is designed to be an immersive experience. Throughout the weekend we will worship together, eat together, serve together, play together, and learn together. This year we will be partnering with the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries, and the Community Roots Garden for both service and education around issues related to creation care. We are trying very hard to practice what we preach making this as low of an ecological impact event as possible through reducing waste, recycling, carpooling, and using reusables.
Our worship times include passionate modern worship led by an experienced team of worship artists and we will be featuring gifted communicators as our spiritual guides / speakers for the weekend. Ojai UMC will serve as our home base but we will be traveling to various locations throughout Ventura County for service projects and networking.
The Registration Fee is $40/person. The cost for the retreat will cover lodging on site at First UMC of Ojai, retreat t-shirt, and six meals for Saturday breakfast through Monday breakfast lunch (Sunday dinner is on your own). Parents / guardians need to send youth with $20 for dinner out on Sunday and may send youth with shopping money, as there will be time for shopping in Old Town Ventura. Schedule: The event will take place from 7:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019 to 10:00 AM on Monday, May 27, 2019. Please see the full information packet for more information.
Transportation: Participants and chaperones are responsible for their own transportation to, during and from the event. Please organize transportation through your local church.
