This event is hosted by the General and Jurisdictional delegates from the California-Pacific Conference, as elected by the Annual Conference for the 2020 General Conference. This conversation will provide feedback from the California-Pacific Conference to the Western Jurisdiction.

The California-Pacific Conference has lived and served as an inclusive church for all of God’s children. Now, the jurisdiction needs our collective input on how we can create a strong, effective structure where all of God’s children truly belong. This is an opportunity for our Conference members to share our values with allies and influence the future structure of the church where love lives.

Regardless of what happens at the general church level, we in the west need an actualization of our mission and a regional structure that will best address our needs. We invite you to give input on what the church in the Western Jurisdiction should look like.

At the last special session of the Western Jurisdiction in July 2021, workgroups were formed to plan for the future of the Western Jurisdiction. The jurisdiction chose to focus on four areas:

• Mission Statement of the Western Jurisdiction (PDF)
• Permeable Boundaries, working together beyond annual conference boundaries (PDF)
• Episcopacy (PDF)
• Structure, Organization, and Financial Considerations (PDF)

After viewing a 15-minute video providing an excellent overview, all participants will break into small groups focused on one of the four reports, so that each participant can give in depth feedback. Each participant will choose which small group to go to. Participants are strongly encouraged to read all four of these brief reports in advance.

This is vitally important work as we look at what we want the church in the Western Jurisdiction to look like.
