Recovery Support Group

newsDo you have a friend or family member who is struggling with addiction or a mental health issue?

Whether the individual is a sibling, parent, child, other family member, or friend, and regardless of their stage of recovery, life can be stressful and sometimes unmanageable for those who love them.

Join us Thursday evenings from 8-9pm in the Adult Ministries Classroom for an ongoing Bible-based support group for those with loved ones who are struggling with addiction or mental health disorders. We utilize the Life Recovery Bible to facilitate discussion. This bible is a source of devotionals that tie scriptures to the Twelve Steps and to the Serenity Prayer.

This is an ongoing support group so there is no need to sign up.  Anyone is welcome, whether or not they are a member of FUMC, so please share if you know of someone who might benefit from the group.  Your privacy is respected, so if you have questions, please contact Beth Gerber at beth@lightext.com or 626.221.6233 for more information.

Here’s what people are saying about the Life Recovery Support Group:

“This is where I go to share with others what I can’t share with most of my friends. And from the group, I get the support that helps me grow as an independent person.”

“I value this weekly sharing of experience, strength and hope growing out of living with a loved one’s addiction.  There is a level of understanding and empathy I feel, and which bolsters me, that only comes from others who have gone through this situation.  It’s so rewarding to be able to smile and even laugh again in this group.”

“You are not alone. You do not have to suffer silently! We are a group of people who are going through the same experiences, emotions, and struggles as you.  Join us to seek out support, friendship, guidance, suggestions, and answers, in a safe, loving, and, yes, even fun, group of people.”
