Bishop Escobedo-Frank’s Announcement of Rev. MacKinnon becoming District Change Manager in 2024

Reverend Melissa Roux MacKinnon to be appointed as Change Manager in the North District on July 1

Grace and peace on this day in the season of Advent.

I bring you news of the appointment of Reverend Melissa Roux MacKinnon as Change Manager in the North District on July 1, 2024.

Reverend MacKinnon is currently serving as Dean of the Cabinet and North District Superintendent. She will complete her full 6-year term (2016 Book of Discipline, ¶ 418) on June 30, 2024. From 2018-2021, Reverend MacKinnon served as the District Superintendent of the East District prior to her appointment to the North District in 2021.

In 1999, Reverend MacKinnon began her ministry serving Elon First United Methodist Church in North Carolina and then transferred to The California-Pacific Conference in 2002 as the Associate Pastor of Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia, California.

In 2010, Reverend MacKinnon was appointed as Senior Pastor at Santa Clarita UMC until she was appointed to the Superintendency in 2018.

Reverend MacKinnon will bring her experience and expertise to the North District to guide and direct the vital new ministries, development projects, and innovative ministry models underway to support the revitalization of ministry within the District and Conference.

We are grateful for the leadership and grace she has brought to the Cabinet table, and we will miss her kindness, laughter, and wisdom around the table. Please join me in welcoming Reverend MacKinnon as Change Manager in the North District.

Grace y paz,
